Friday TGIF Teen Nights are about free movies, games, and technology exploration for patrons ages 13 to 19. Special teen activities and film titles will be posted on Facebook and on the library website. Look for new programming each month. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome. Light refreshments provided.

The cook book this month is “Salad as a Meal: Healthy Main-Dish Salads for Every Season” by Patricia Wells. Each cook brings a small sample of a dish made from one of Wells’ recipes to share. Pick up a copy of the cook book at Foster Public Library. New cooks welcome!

* Foraging for Wild MushroomsForaging for Wild Mushrooms

Time: 1:00 pm

Ryan and Emily of Southern N.E. Mushroom Hunting will show us how to hunt for wild mushrooms in our area. Learn about delicious chanterelles and morels for cooking and identify some fungi you will want to avoid.

* Harvest Contra DanceHarvest Contra Dance

Time: 7:00 pm

At the Moosup Valley Grange. Caller Paul Wilde returns with The May Bees for another evening of lively music. The first half hour, 6:30 to 7 pm is an open dance lesson, followed by the Dance at 7pm. Tickets, $10 each, are on sale at the Foster and Tyler Libraries. There will be a Friends of the Libraries of Foster bake sale and raffle baskets. Proceeds will benefit library programming.

Tap into your creative side and explore new ways to play with color and design. With guidance from a local artist we glue, paste, and design extraordinary pages. Beginners welcome. All supplies provided. A donation of $3 or donations of non-perishable food for the Foster Food Pantry welcome.

* Sewing 101Sewing 101

Time: 12:00 pm

The sewing group has a new project: a shoulder bag. Anyone can join in sewing their own bag. No experience necessary. This is a class on sewing for beginners and will be a great refresher class for some. Bring your unfinished projects, fabric, and notions to swap.  Recommended for teens and adults.  Pre-register to reserve a sewing machine by calling The Libraries: 397-7930 or 397-4801.

This group has made many charming creatures out of wool. This month we are making a bat. Instruction and all supplies are provided. We gladly accept a donation of $5.00 or cans of no-perishable food for the Foster Food Pantry to off-set program costs.

Experienced genealogy researchers will show you unique resources for family history in Foster, Rhode Island and beyond. Explore the vast genealogical resources on the Internet. Bring your own flash drive or laptop to capture data you uncover online.
