Interlibrary loan (ILL) service is essential to the vitality of libraries of all types and sizes as a means of greatly expanding the range of materials available to users.
- Interlibrary loan (ILL) service is limited to OSL card holders in good standing.
- There is a limit of 15 in-state ILL requests per week per patron.
- Given the number of variables possible in an interlibrary loan transaction, the staff cannot guarantee the date of arrival of the loan.
- Patrons are responsible for the fee incurred to return items to the lending library. Library or book rate will be applied.
- Photocopy requests will be made in accordance with Title 17 of the United States Code. In general, this means the borrowing library is limited on photocopying. This number is a set of 5 articles.
- The borrowing library is obligated to adhere to any restrictions placed on loans by the lending library.
- Renewals of items loaned to patrons will be at the discretion of the lending library.
- The charge for lost or unreturned items will be determined by the lending library. The patron who borrowed the item will be responsible for any charges for items he or she lost or did not return.
- Patrons will be notified of the arrival of interlibrary loan requests by the borrowing library and will be held for a period of one week.
Out-of-State Interlibrary Loan
Out-of-state interlibrary loans adhere to the same policies set forth for in-state library loans with the addition of the following:
- The patron requesting the materials will be charged the fee for returning the items to the lending library. The fee will be determined by the current postal book rate.
- Charges imposed by the lending library are the responsibility of the patron requesting the loan. Charges will not be incurred without prior approval of the requester.
